Happiness is one of the hottest agenda items of all times. Therefore, philosophers, scientists, poets and writers have been seeking answers to the question of "How to be happy" for centuries. When the famous poet, Nazým Hikmet asked "Abidin, can you paint me a picture of happiness?", there was no substantial answer to give. If you ask whether there now is an answer or not, the answer is both there and not there. We can say that we are more unhappy than we were but we are closer than before to making a definition of happiness. The scientific studies that started on earth in 1960s and gained impetus towards the end of 90s are clarifying the picture of happiness. This is a picture that will differ from man to man, culture to culture, time to time; however, there are specific common elements. Come and let us learn the definition of happiness and its impacts on our lives from Pelin Kesebir, who started her research into this field in Turkey and has been continuing it in University of Illinois, USA.
