Cem Boyner explains his "Close At A Distance" theme: "Adults with a childish look in their eyes, children with an adult look in their eyes as if they have lived several lives. The most open, vulnerable, sincere. I found myself a little bit, in each of them. I memorized their looks, stands against life, vulnerable but bold. It was not only a photo shoot but also a convergence of souls. I take them with me everywhere, all the time..."
And for "Distant Close By" he states: "Bodies were always drawed, painted. The most painted, photographed subject is human body. With its beauty, its inner light, structure and even with the beauty of its imperfection... I work on the form, posture and mostly on expression." We asked about his photography journey to Cem Boyner and he answered: "I started taking photographs while I was attending to high school. My uncle gave me a Leica camera. For a long time I shot and printed in black&white. Photography was more than a hobby for me. Unfortunately within the busy business life, it turned out to be a hobby. And time went by fast while I was busy with business life and politics. After my politics career was over, I started diving. After discovering the underwater world, photography became a reason to dive. I mean it turned out to diving to take photographs, not taking photographs since I dived. I collected my underwater photo shoots in an exhibition. Then the economical crisis occured and I had to be steering the business during that time. Then I started taking photographs again. Right now, photograph is more than a hobby."
