Which company do you think of when the subject is technology? No doubt most answers will include Microsoft. Sureyya Ciliv is one of the top managers of this technology leader. It has been his fifth year at Microsoft. 8 months ago he was assigned as the Strategy and Systems Director of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Service Group. Each year Microsoft allocates more than 7 billion dollars for R&D. It is also planning to expand its R&D budget by 500 million dollars each year. Microsoft opens a R&D center in every region, that has a population exceeding one billion.

When asked about Turkey's progress in IT, Ciliv mentions that Turkey has some shortfalls and these can be overcome by use of advantages. He talks about the famous violinist, "Remember Itzhak Perlman, the best violinist in the world. Perlman has suffered from polio when he was a child, and was walking impaired for the rest of his life. Years later in an interview he is asked how he achieved so much. His answer is one of my favorite quotes 'I concentrated on my working parts'. That I think is what we should do. Turkey has a hardworking, entrepreneur, practical and ambitious young population. We possess the diligence and patience to be successful."
